Privacy policy
We build apps that fit into everyday life. That only works if you understand how your information is handled — plainly, without surprises.
Who we are
Playtests (“we”, “us”) develops mobile apps including Trio and Bakewell, and operates this website at playtests.co (and related subdomains). For privacy questions, contact hello@playtests.co.
Information we collect
Website. If you join our mailing list, we collect your email address. If you contact us, we collect what you send (name, email, message). We may collect basic technical data (such as browser type and pages visited) through standard server logs or analytics, where used.
Apps. Depending on the app and features you use, we may process:
- Account information (e.g. email, display name, sign-in identifiers)
- Wellness and activity data you log or import (e.g. water intake, steps, sleep), including data from Apple Health where you grant permission
- Social features (friends, groups, invite codes) when you sign in
- Device and app usage data needed to run and improve the service
How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide and maintain our apps and website
- Calculate scores, streaks, trends, and social comparisons you choose to use
- Send product updates or mailing-list messages you have opted into
- Respond to support and contact requests
- Improve reliability, security, and design
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use health data for advertising profiles.
Legal bases (EEA / UK)
Where applicable, we rely on: performance of a contract (providing the service you signed up for); legitimate interests (improving and securing our products, in ways that respect your rights); consent (e.g. mailing list, optional Health imports); and legal obligation where required.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers who help us operate (e.g. hosting, authentication, email delivery), under contracts that require appropriate protection; when you use social features visible to friends or group members you join; or when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law. You may delete your account in-app where available; some data may persist in backups for a limited period.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. You may withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. Contact us to exercise these rights. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
Our services are not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
International transfers
If we process data outside your country, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) where required.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version here with an updated date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy, where permitted by law.
